See Cute Pups on Parade During Krewe of Barkus, the McKinney Edition of a Famous N.O. Parade

Celebrate the Carnival season with this parade of lovable pooches! On Sunday, March 3rd, McKinney will host its 17th Krewe of Barkus parade. Have a howling good time at this parade, held in historic Downtown McKinney!

Patterned after the Mystic Krewe of Barkus in New Orleans, which was established to help abused and abandoned canines, Krewe of Barkus will feature a parade, vendor booths, interactive activities and more. In past years, more than 250 dogs participated in the parade alongside more than 4,500 spectators in awe of costumes, creatures and creativity.

The theme for 2019 will be centered around a genre of television that has infiltrated our culture and become wildly popular. If you are a fan of Survivor, Jersey Shore, Fear Factor, American Idol, Top Chef or The Bachelor / Bachelorette – you are in luck! On March 3, the canines are Keeping it Real – A Barkus Salute to Reality TV.

Don’t miss what promises to be fun for all! Parade participants must check in at 12:30 p.m. The parade will begin promptly at 2:00. If your pooch would like to participate, learn more about Krewe of Barkus registration at www.mckinneytexas.org.
