Celebrate Selena Day in style with the best Selena tribute act in Texas! On Tuesday, April 16th, Bidi Bidi Banda will perform live at Box Garden at Legacy Hall. Get there early to ensure a spot at what promises to be a jam-packed event!
Bidi Bidi Banda is Austin's first all-star Selena Tribute. Comprised of members of some of Austin's premier Latin bands, Bidi Bidi Banda is the refried dream of Stephanie Bergara, an Austinite who grew up listening to Tejano radio and singing into a hair brush while wearing her mother's red lipstick. The band's interpretation of Selena's greatest hits will leave you belting lyrics, doing the washing machine and reliving the days of the Queen of Tejano Music.
Selena Quintanilla was born in Lake Jackson, Texas. Selena was considered the "Queen of Tejano," a type of Mexican music that incorporated other styles, such as country and western. She was also sometimes referred to as the "Mexican Madonna" for her sexy outfits and dance moves.
Her 1990 album, Ven Conmigo, was the first Tejano record to achieve gold record status. Her recordings continued to have strong sales, and she won the Grammy Award (best Mexican-American album) in 1993 for her album Live. In 1994, Prohibido was released and went gold. Sadly, Selena’s career was cut short when she was murdered in 1995 by the founder of her own fan club.
This all-star tribute concert is a free event; therefore, registration does NOT guarantee seating or access to the venue. Seating is first come, first served. All are welcome.
At The Artistry at Craig Ranch Apartments in McKinney, Texas, it is clear that we have it all, but we still feel obliged to inform you of all the events our community has scheduled. Please feel free to join in all of the fun during this premier event!
